Workin on the Edge

For the last couple weeks , and for the next couple months , I'll be out at the Columbia ice fields . Between Jasper and Lake Louise Alberta and with no internet or cell coverage . Here is what we are working on .

It's called the Glacier Discovery Walk . I'm not sure when it will be done but Looks pretty awesome in this rendition . click here for a video preview . When I tell you it's on the edge , I'm not joking . We have to haul all the rock off the cliff edge . Pretty Cool

Xbmc for IPad

This weekend I installed xbmc and all the add ons to my iPad and it works great . Apple tv is where I learned everything and I thought it was the cats ass but now not so much . The iPhone and iPad are open to run this media marvel . Even android devices can run it now too . Load up your device , you won't regret it .

Large military cargo plane bound for MacDill AFB lands at wrong airport

A large military cargo plane that was supposed to go to MacDill Air Force Base landed at the wrong, much smaller airport on Davis Islands in Tampa on Friday afternoon.

The large place landed at the relatively small Peter O. Knight Airport in Tampa around 1:30 p.m. The military aircraft is a C-17 Globemaster, according to officials at the airport. The airport is at the southern tip of Davis Islands, south of downtown.

Leave it to the Italians to build an espresso machine into your car.

Yes, automaker Fiat's teamed up with coffee experts Lavazza to offer a "Coffee Experience" option in their new 500L. On cars so equipped, the cupholders between the front seats will use built-in heating elements in their base to boil water in a special brewing flask. The water percolates up to the top of the flask, where it blends with the coffee in the "Modo Mio" pod. Just like that, you've fresh, piping hot coffee on the go.

Over 70 percent of the Earth’s surface is covered in water, so it’s not surprising that it’s often the subject of our photographs. From rivers, lakes, ponds and oceans to waterfalls, swimming pools, rain and dew drops, water can look brilliant when photographed.

This is the kind of stuff I am trying to learn ...... but I do have a new friend who happens to be a professional photographer. Cool stuff.

Man claims police officers strangled his penis

A man claims in court that New York City policemen falsely arrested him for drinking in public, beat him without cause and "placed a drawstring around his penis, and strangled his penis." Nathaniel Carter sued the City of New York in Kings County Supreme Court.

Carter claims he was standing on a public sidewalk in the Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighbourhood on June 12, 2011 when several of New York's Finest approached him "without provocation" and "strangled the plaintiff about the neck, placed a drawstring around his penis, and strangled his penis, causing bodily injury."

Naked shoppers flock to supermarket opening

A supermarket on the German-Danish border was stormed by a horde of naked shoppers on Saturday after offering free groceries to the first hundred punters willing to get their kit off. Police, photographers and a bemused manager witnessed strange scenes at a supermarket opening in Süderlügum, North Frisia as patrons wandered between the aisles studying shopping lists in nothing but their birthday suits.

Customers had camped outside the new “Priss” supermarket in the hope of being among the lucky first hundred who had been promised a basket full of free groceries worth €270 if they came in the nude. Supermarket manager Nils Sterndorff was overwhelmed by the success of his gimmick. “I never thought a hundred people would come, I thought maybe more like ten,” he said. In fact, so many turned up that Sterndorff had to let them in in batches of twenty. The police placed the number at 250, mostly Danish shoppers, who often take advantage of the cheaper alcohol and confectionary on the German side of the border.

So this guy Travis Baumgartner killed 3 people in Edmonton (co-workers) , and manages to get away with $330,000 last week . Pretty daring move . If it was me , I'd head for the hills in Rio or something , vamoose , disappear . This guy had the same idea cept for one or two flaws . If you are the subject of a major manhunt in Canada , don't head for the border crossing into the states with your real identification . Sneak across , its very possible , and the second thing is not to head to the border crossing with a STOLEN plate on your vehicle . LMAO . That's like robbing a store with your nametag on or something . Either way , this guy is a DUMBASS too !!!!!!

Diablo 3 .......SUCKS

I don't play games much anymore but there are a couple old favorites that I will . Diablo was a big fav . With the release of Diablo 3 , I was enthusiastic about a new installment and bought it . It looks awesome . But that's it . There is NO single player mode and you absolutely have to have an internet connection . That's not the problem . When you create your account on battle.net and are raring to play , forget it . I along with Many others , and I mean many (in the thousands) , keep getting an error . Mostly error 12 which states there is no licence attached to your account to play this game . I can't get my money back (60$) from best buy and I can't get any help from blizzard , who made the game . Save your money until a single player patch is made . I'll let you know when .

Ipad Mini ?

A long-term recurring rumor has been suggesting that, in addition to introducing the iPhone 5 this fall, Apple will also be releasing a new, smaller version of the iPad. It’s been referred to as both the iPad Mini and iPad Nano, and we’ve heard that it will have a 7.85-inch display. Despite all the chances we’ve had in recent weeks to look at what are supposedly iPhone 5 components, we’ve yet to see much in the way of similar evidence supporting the existence of the iPad Mini. That could be about to change right now, upon the release of pictures showing of what may be the iPad Mini’s rear panel.

I got a call at 6:30 this morning from the folks at our camp. So there I was ripping up to Caroline to move our trailer out of the waters. Everything is all good now.

'Bath salts' drug use spreading across Canada

A powerful new drug linked to violence has been reported in Edmonton just a week after a scary account about bath salts was published in Nova Scotia.

Edmonton police are worried after finding a drug known as bath salts on the city's streets.
Judging by experiences in the United States, the cops are right to be concerned.
Bath salts are made by amateur druggies out of chemicals such as mephedrone, MDPV, and methylone. It's a good bet that each batch made by each clandestine drug lab is different from every other batch, making the use of the end product a true crap shoot for the addict.

And there will be addicts here in Canada.

Dumb Criminal Stories

A Charlotte, NC, man having purchased a case of very rare, very expensive cigars, insured them against fire among other things. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of cigars and without having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the man filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the man stated the cigars were lost "in a series of small fires." The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The man sued....and won. In delivering the ruling the judge agreeing that the claim was frivolous, stated nevertheless that the man held a policy from the company in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure against fire, without defining what it considered to be "unacceptable fire," and was obligated to pay the claim. Rather than endure a lengthy and costly appeal process the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid the man $15,000 for the rare cigars he lost in "the fires." After the man cashed the check, however, the company had him arrested on 24 counts of arson. With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the man was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

Man turned away from court for wearing shorts returned wearing a blouse and skirt

A man wore a woman’s skirt and blouse in court after being told he could not wear shorts in front of magistrates. David Jeffries-Tipton had been told he was not dressed appropriately when he arrived at Cannock Magistrates Court so went and bought a set of ladies’ clothes as a protest. Wearing a red floral skirt and light coloured silk blouse, the 47-year-old had his trial heard.

Speaking after the case, in which magistrates made no reference to his attire, Jeffries-Tipton, of Deer Hill, Brocton, Stafford said: “I had to go to a charity shop to get these clothes and I will be making a complaint.”

'Cleaning Fairy' breaks into home, cleans and leaves $75 bill

Ohio police have identified a real life cleaning fairy - who may be flapping her wings into a jail cell. The woman broke into a Westlake, Ohio home, did some light cleaning, then left a bill. The family thought a cleaning service sent someone to the wrong house, but the "cleaning fairy" told them it was no mistake, and they better pay up. "There were some coffee mugs that my husband had out," said Sherry Bush, the homeowner. "She had washed them all."

With the release date getting closer , Microsoft has made yet another preview available for their upcoming os . According to what I've read , this is avail for anyone who wants to try it , even if you have the consumer preview installed . Not many changes if you do though . Maybe a few apps are added , It's all about the apps you know . So far , I like it . he start menu is where you find your app screen and from there you can change back to your regular desktop of old . The shut down and settings section is on the right hand side now and if you want to select something you were recently doing , you do that from the top left of your screen . Dog holds world record for having biggest eyes

Guinness World Records announced on Friday that 4-year-old Bruschi the Boston terrier holds the record for dog with the largest eyes. Each one measures 28 millimeters in diameter.

According to the Guinness World Records website, Bruschi’s owner, Victoria Reed, didn’t really notice her pooch’s enormous eyeballs until many of her friends and family started commenting on their size. That’s when she submitted an application for a Guinness World Records title.

Man celebrating opening new business that teaches people how to operate parachutes dies in skydiving accident

Former Hoboken resident Robert Ranieri III, 29, died on Tuesday in a skydiving accident over Lake Tahoe in California. Ranieri was making a skydive to celebrate opening his new business that teaches people how to operate parachutes, according to his grandfather, former Hoboken assemblyman and councilman Robert Ranieri Sr.

Ranieri III’s first chute twisted and an emergency chute didn’t open, his grandfather said. Ranieri III’s body was found 15 feet below the surface in Lake Tahoe. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been holding his body pending an investigation to rule out foul play.

He leaves behind a wife, an 8-month-old child, parents, grandparents and two siblings. After a memorial service near Lake Tahoe, his family plans to have his body brought to Hoboken for his funeral at Lawton-Turso Funeral Home.

One type of sea life has proven tough to keep in home aquariums: jellyfish. The blobby beasties get shredded like Kleenex in the filters. This 7-gallon tank — a project that got funded through Kickstarter — solves that by using a laminar-flow system to circulate the water in a controlled swirl, nudging the jellies to the middle of the tank and away from danger. Volcanic eruptions trigger shocking finding

Volcanic eruptions can spark squalls of lightning that are as intense as the biggest superstorms over the central United States, according to researchers who have captured the most detailed measurements of electrical discharges during a volcanic blast. The data, they say, could help to illuminate what causes volcanic lightning and point the way towards a system that can quickly detect ash plumes from remote eruptions, which can disrupt air travel.

Solar-powered airplane attempts transcontinental flight

A Solar Impulse aircraft takes off at Payerne airport May 24, 2012, piloted by André Borschberg. The Solar Impulse HB-SIA prototype aircraft, which has 12,000 solar cells built into its jumbo-jet-sized wings (about 200 feet long), attempted its first intercontinental flight from Switzerland to Morocco with a few days for a technical stop and a change of pilot in Madrid. This flight will act as a final rehearsal for the 2014 round-the-world flight.

What's a Dog to do ?

A&E cancelled Dog the Bounty Hunter on Monday after eight seasons of chases, takedowns, religious lectures and family squabbles -- and occasional legal headaches for the network. The reality series followed mullet-sporting Duane (Dog) Chapman as he ran his family bounty-hunting business and wanted men and women ran away from him. In 2006, Chapman, his son and another bounty hunter were arrested on charges of illegal detention in the capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Mexico. Luster had fled the country while on trial on charges he raped three women. Charges against the three bounty hunters were eventually dropped by a Mexican court. One of Dog's collars sued Chapman and two of his sons last year, claiming a 2009 arrest that they instigated led to his firing, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported. Those two sons, Duane Chapman 2nd and Leland Chapman, later left the show -- and stopped talking to the rest of the family. Dog's daughter Lyssa was arrested last year in Hawaii after allegedly cursing and banging on doors in a residential neighbourhood.

Drunk golfer used city as driving range

A man was arrested on Saturday for using the centre of the historic German city of Cologne as a driving range, after one of his wayward iron shots hit a taxi. The taxi had just stopped to let in a new passenger when there was a loud bang against the car. "I saw some damage on the taxi to the right of the trunk," the startled taxi driver said. "Then I looked on the ground and found a golf ball." When he got out he was amazed to see the rogue golfer holding a club and repeatedly hitting balls on to the street.

The driver confronted the 44-year-old, who merely began swearing at him, packed up his clubs and walked off. According to a police report filed on Sunday, the taxi driver then followed the man in his car to remonstrate with him further, and got out to confront him. This apparently riled the golfer, who pulled out a knife and pointed at it. It is understood the cabbie decided not to be the caddy. Police then arrested the inebriated golfer and took him to a cell to sober up. He has been arrested on charges of dangerously interfering with traffic, property damage, abusive and threatening behaviour.

Solar eclipse May20/2012

I took this pic Sunday night from our camp. I just started messing with settings etc .... and this is what happened. In time my photography skills will get better and better.

The world's tiniest V12 engine.

Operational V12 engine that fits into the palm of your hand ...... the maker of this engine did everything at home with a lathe and drill press. After 1220 hrs over a year and a half this is the end result. Pretty cool.

Windows 8

They say it will be more user friendly . They say multitasking will be faster than on the ipad . They say I can have it for free . Ok .

It's test time here on the blog and my behemoth is gonna be the guinea pig . I am downloading the free consumer preview edition as I type . My first impression of it was "ugly" , when i saw the home screen , but I think that it will be customizable enough to satisfy me . Time will tell , but it will have to be pretty amazing to compare to my ipad . I love that thing . To get it yourself , click here .
